When we planned our trip to Norway, we already organized our accommodations ahead. One of them was a barrel.
Yes, ladies and gentleman: a barrel!
But honestly, we forgot about that special booking again.
So when we arrived at the place a few months later and the (grumpy) receptionist handed over the key to cottage No. 29 we started looking for our hut. Until we realized that we will spend our night in a barrel. The first shock turned into a wonderful experience.
Three barrels, resting next to each other in front of the lake. Each of them with a picnic table and a fire place. Sweeeeet!
Our dinner was Bread, Salami, Cheese and Chocolate with the best view of our trip so far. The lake, the mountains, the sun, nearly perfect. Oh wait, we also had internet, so it was perfection (what an attitude 😉 – just kidding, lovelies).
We took heaps of photos, talked about our best and worst characteristics – very interesting game to play with your two besties – and had a nice, relaxing evening. Definitely a good one!
And with French and Spanish neighbors, the Barrels were almost an international friend scout thing.
Only one question left:
How was the time in the barrel??
Did we get a good night´s sleep?
All rolled-up in our sleeping bags in a cocoon, we dreamt tight, didn´t let the bed bugs bite. So shouldn´t you – go and stay in a Barrel one time if you´ll get the chance 😉
